BILL HATCHER: Founder, CEO
A poet, Bill discovered an equal taste for food early on and after getting an MBA, embarked on a corporate career in Financial and Strategic planning. Ten years later, tired of five billion dollar corporations, he and his wife, Deb, abruptly moved to Oregon and jumped feet first into wine. Bill consulted through 1987 when the Drouhin family acquired their first property in Oregon. Subsequently, he was engaged to build and develop Domaine Drouhin, remaining there until 2001. Soon thereafter, he founded A to Z with Deb and partners Sam Tannahill and Cheryl Francis as well as handcrafting a tiny production of his own William Hatcher wine. Read Bill's CEO Blog
DEB HATCHER: Founder, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer
A true Gemini with interests, background and degrees to prove it, Deb finally agreed to test the design limits of marriage and partnered with Bill, her husband of 252 dog years, Sam Tannahill and Cheryl Francis to found A to Z Wineworks. Deb fell in love with Oregon and Oregon Pinot Noir at first taste in 1985 and Bill and Deb abruptly left their lives back east to work harvest three weeks later. She subsequently worked for Veritas and Eyrie Vineyards and did her part during the thirteen plus years Bill launched and ran Domaine Drouhin Oregon.
SAM TANNAHILL: Founder, Director of Viticulture & Winemaking
Sam graduated from Washington and Lee with an East Asian Studies degree that he uses on a daily basis in the winery. After traveling through Central Asia for a year he settled down working in the wineries and vineyards of Burgundy for two years and managed to bluff his way to a post-graduate degree in winemaking from the University de Dijon. He worked with Ted Lemon at Littorai, and then served as Winemaker at Archery Summit for seven years. In 2002, the time was ripe to strike out for further fame, glory and new horizons in the form of A to Z Wineworks with his wife, Cheryl Francis, and Bill and Deb Hatcher. Sam and Cheryl own a biodynamic vineyard and also make Francis Tannahill wines.
