Rex Hill Vineyards has participated in Oregon’s sustainability movement from its outset with ties to the LIVE (Low Input Viticulture & Enology, Inc.) organization are deep and strong.  We are committed to helping our independent growers to farm organically and we are moving toward certification by the international biodynamic certifier, Demeter, for the acres we farm biodynamically.  Biodynamic farming is the most stringent of organic farming practices and takes into count not only the physical aspects of farming, but the energetic and spiritual aspects as well.

NADINE LEW: Grower Liaison/Viticulturist. Originally a New Yorker, Nadine received a pre-medical Biology degree from McGill University (Montreal) before realizing that the roots of good health and vitality were to be found in Nature, not hospitals. After several years in the Alaskan wilderness working as a Park Ranger and NMFS Biologist she was lured into the wine industry by the promise of a career with great wine, food, sunshine and perpetual dirt under her fingernails. She earned a post-graduate degree in Viticulture from UCDavis and has since been managing organic and biodynamic vineyards in Napa, British Columbia and the CA Central Coast. Walking the Pacific Crest Trail with her dog, Pacha led her through Oregon in summer of 07 and called her back for the Pinot and pine trees.

PATRICK KREPPS: Vineyard Manager. Patrick Krepps joined Rex Hill more than a decade ago. He started getting his hands dirty in the Midwest while attending college and managing the University Horticultural Research Farms and Vineyards. Immediately thereafter he moved to the Pacific Northwest and started at Rex Hill as a vineyard intern. The rest is history. In a field in which you are often considered as good as your last vintage, he is consistently well respected among his staff and peers. Patrick’s passion for the vineyard is obvious. It is evidenced by his pure enjoyment of working outdoors, the freedom to use his knowledge and his innate ability to read the vineyard and transform an ordinary harvest into something extraordinary.
